Annual & Financial Report

Medical Aid Project is an all-volunteer organization.  Our volunteers come from all walks of life. We are medical doctors, surgeons, opthalmologists, optometrists, dentists, oral hygenists, patholigists, therapists, radiologists, nurses, pharmacists, clergy, professionals, students and people of various backgrounds. Though we gather from various places and come from all corners of the world, we all share a common treasure: the unity of heart and mind that desires to help the sick, the poor and the less fortunate.

All volunteers pay for their own expenses on their mission trips to Vietnam; this is to ensure that 100% donated money will be forwarded to the people and children who need it most.

What and Where?

We visited hospitals, orphanage homes and handicapped centers and set up medical and outreach clinics in rural areas.  We have walked many villages in Hue, Da Nang, Vinh, Diễn Châu, Nha Trang, Cam Ranh, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Hoa Hung, Can Tho, Vinh Chau, Buonmethuot, Saigon, Hanoi, Rach Gia, Hai Phong, Cu Lao Gieng, Long Xuyen, Rach Gia, Ha Tien, Da Lat, Pleiku Kotum, and the Delta and mountain areas, and etc.

Since 1994, we have managed to arrange at least one Medical Aid for Vietnam mission every year. Our days are hectic and could start as early as 4:30AM. Our normal day started with breakfast and then a bus, boat or ferry rides to the outreach clinics. On the way, we devoted a moment for sharing and sang songs. At the outreach clinics, we examined patients and gave out medication, conducted eye examinations and prescribed eye glasses, performed dental hygiene and extracted teeth, and distributed gifts and food to thousands poor people.  In certain serious medical cases, we paid to send people for treatments in hospitals.

We also performed cataract surgeries at many hospitals and medical clinics throughout the country. We collaborated with local hospitals to continue providing free cataract surgeries to poor people and provided them with necessary equipments, implants and supplies to perform cataract surgeries.

We Need YOU

We need GPs, dentists, ophthalmologists, optometrists, nurses, and translators. We can accommodate any specialty through our relationships with hospitals and universities in Vietnam. A true desire to serve the poor and to help the local care givers is absolutely essential for anyone wanting to come on the team.

This is a hard working team, but we also try to have fun! We aren’t a tour group and our activities are carried out at the discretion of the local health authorities, who have cancelled some of our activities in the past, at times without warning. So flexibility is a must.

Support us or join our mission and together we can change and save lives. We need financial support and we always welcome volunteers to join our medical mission trips.
