Medical Aid for Vietnam was founded by Dr. David Neima, Dr.Hugh Parsons and Rev. Tien Tran in 1994 in Vancouver, Canada. Its purpose is to work with local docto
rs, clinics and hospitals to help the poor, the sick and the disabled children of Vietnam.
Medical Aid for Vietnam is a charitable project functioned under the umbrella and support of EMAS (Evangelical Medical Aid Society) and CMDS (Christian Medical and Dental Society) of Canada.
In May 2005, our project extended to the U.S. and established under the name MEDICAL AID PROJECT (MAP), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
Our Goal is to bring medical aids to those who do not have access to basic medical cares and to provide treatments and healings. In our work, we collaborate with local hospitals, clinics and doctors to promote and support their medical services.
Our Mission is to bring “hospital” and healing to the people.

In the past, we have provided medical equipments and skill training to local doctors at many hospitals in Hue, Da Nang, Hai Phong, Banmethuot, Nha Trang, and Can Tho.
Our hope is to teach and give local doctors the tools and skills needed to help the poor more effectively. Our goal is to provide these medical treatments to the poor and the less fortunate on a continual basis, even after we have left. We also perform cataract surgeries at many hospitals and medical clinics throughout the country. One of our main objectives is to bring the medical help to the poor who can not have access to the treatments otherwise, so we organize outreach camps at small villages and remote places to reach many poor patients there. In doing all these, we also work together with the local doctors to make the work of helping the poor more effective and successful in Vietnam.
We have funded a hospice home for AIDS patients in Hue and replaced a damaged bridge over a deep raving river near Long Khanh, where children had to cross everyday to go to school. Also, we have coordinated to have students from Canada to come living a month with the Catholic Sisters in Da Nang and working with the poor.
We are actively assessing needs for future missions. All the money we raise is used to finance surgeries, buy medications, equipment and other necessities for the poor.
